Consulate General of Japan in Davao Co-Organizes “From History to Horizons: Celebrating 70 Years of Japan–Philippines Friendship in Mindanao”

On July 31, the Consulate-General of Japan in Davao co-organized the forum entitled “From History to Horizons: Celebrating 70 Years of Japan–Philippines Friendship in Mindanao” held at IMIN– The Philippines Japan Historical Museum, together with the PHILAJAMES Mindanao Chapter, the University of the Philippines Mindanao, and the Department of International Relations of Mindanao State University-General Santos. The forum was officially recognized as a commemorative event for the Philippines-Japan Friendship Year, marking the 70th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between Japan and the Philippines.
At the opening of the forum, messages were delivered by Consul General Ono, H.E. Mylene J. Garcia-Albano, Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines to Japan; and Dr. Ines Yamanouchi-Mallari, President of the Philippine Nikkei-jin Kai Federation.
During the keynote session, Ms. Maria Cynthia Barriga, Lecturer at Hitotsubashi University; and Mr. Ayato Kemmochi, Doctoral Student in the Department of Area Studies, Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, the University of Tokyo, presented their respective research.
Their presentations were followed by an open forum, during which participants exchanged their views.
