Consul General ONO signs a grant contract for a project under the Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects (GGP) with Mindanao Children’s Library Foundation (MCL), Inc.

On July 8, 2025, Consul General ONO Hirotaka and Mindanao Children’s Library Foundation (MCL), Inc. Founder MATSUI Tomo signed a grant contract for the project titled “The Construction of Classroom Building at Datu Umpan IP School in Kidapawan City, Province of Cotabato,” under Japan’s Official Development Assistance (ODA) through the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP).
The grant, amounting to 148,800 US dollars (approximately 8.4 million pesos), will be used to construct classrooms with toilet for Indigenous students at Datu Umpan School. The project aims to provide Indigenous People (IP)s’ children with a safe, inclusive, and conducive learning environment that respects and supports their cultural identity. By promoting inclusivity and equal access to education, the project empowers IP children to reach their full potential and contributes to the long-term development of their communities.
