Greetings from Consul General ONO Hirotaka

2025/5/19
     Dear people in Mindanao,

I am ONO Hirotaka, and I assumed my position as Consul General of Japan in Davao on May 9, 2025.

Since joining the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, I have worked as a specialist in the Philippines for over thirty years. I have served at the Embassy of Japan in the Philippines twice, for eleven years in total. Now I am delighted to be living in Davao, a place with deep ties to Japan.

I believe that the strong friendship between Japan and the Philippines, and between Japan and Davao, has developed thanks to the tireless efforts of many individuals over the years. I would like to express my heartfelt respect and gratitude to all those involved.

The Consulate General of Japan in Davao exists for the Japanese nationals residing in Mindanao. I consider it my important mission to ensure your safety and support the activities of Japanese companies in Mindanao. I aim to promote economic relations between Japan and Mindanao, foster cultural, educational as well as people-to-people exchanges, and disseminate the charm of Japan, striving to be a consulate that is beneficial to the people of the Philippines. Additionally, I recognize that Japanese descendants are a precious link between Japan and the Philippines, and I am committed to ensuring that these important bonds endure for many years to come.

As we move forward, I hope to hear your candid opinions and to be a reliable consulate for you. If you have any matters that we can help, please feel free to consult with us at any time.

Thank you very much for your cooperation.
