A Member of Japan’s House of Councillors Hon. SHIOMURA Ayaka visited Davao from August 15 to August 19.
On August 16, Hon. SHIOMURA attended the ”Ireisai,” or the annual memorial service that was jointly organized by the Consulate-General of Japan in Davao, Philippine Nikkei Jin Kai, Inc. and Barangay Mintal at the Mintal Public Cemetery, Davao City. She discussed Japan-Davao relationship with Mintal Barangay captain and people from Philippine Nikkei Jin Kai. She also visited cacao farms, which are famous products in Davao.

On August 17, the parliamentarian visited the office of indigenous people organization and Japanese memorial sites in Tamugan. She also talked with some Japanese descendants. After that, she paid a courtesy call on Davao City Mayor Hon. Sebastian Duterte and discussed Japan-Davao relationship.
