Consul General Ishikawa visits the plant of Taganito HPAL Nickel Corporation (THPAL)

On June 8, Consul General Ishikawa visits the plant of THPAL that a majority-owned subsidiary of Sumitomo Metal Mining Co., Ltd. of Japan and has been operating since 2013 in Surigao del Norte, Mindanao. The plant adopts HPAL (High Pressure Acid Leaching) technology to smelt and produce nickel/cobalt material, as essential natural resource in our lives today, for exporting to Japan. Besides, the plant received a prestigious “Presidential Mineral Industry Environmental Award, PMIEA” due to the environment management, safety management at the plant, activities for the local environment and contributions to local communities were highly recognized by the government of the Philippines.
